Amid recent rumours of a rift in the Bachchan family with growing speculations about cracks in Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s marriage, an old video of Jaya Bachchan has resurfaced online.
The clip from the popular talk show Koffee With Karan, sees the veteran star, brimming with excitement about welcoming Aishwarya into the Bachchan family. In the throwback clip from 2007, the same year Abhishek and Aishwarya got married, Jaya appeared on the chat show and gushed about her daughter-in-law, who she said, “is lovely.”
“I love her, I have always loved her,” Jaya said with a smile and went on to add, “I have never ever seen her push herself whenever we are all together.I like that quality of hers to stand behind. She is quiet. She listens and she is taking it all in.”
She also applauded Ash for adjusting to family life and fitting right into the Bachchan household. “Another beautiful thing is that she has fitted in so well in the family. She knows who are our good friends,” Jaya said.
When Karan asked if Ash is the “ideal Mrs Abhishek Bachchan,” Jaya replied, “I think so.”
KJo took the conversation forward by asking if it bothered her that her daughter-in-law came with the baggage of being a big star, Jaya said, “No, not at all. I think she is a strong lady. She has a lot of dignity…”
She also revealed that Amitbah’s face would light up when Ash walked in the room as she had taken the place of their daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
Ash and Abhishek’s relationship has been in the spotlight for a while. Rumours of an impending divorce began doing the rounds when Ash and Aaradhya didn’t join the Bachchan family for a photo at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding, but instead, arrived separately for the ceremony.
